Proverb of the day :- The wish is the father of thought

Meaning / example :-
Sometimes we think something is true, is going to happen, because we wish for it to be so. For example, a poor person may think that they will one day have plenty of money, because they wish it to be so, even though there is no real reason to expect this to happen because they aren’t doing anything different from day to day to make it happen; or one may believe that their friend in hospital is going to get better because they want him to, only the doctor does not think this is the case. The proverb is literally saying that wishing for something produces the thought that it’s true, like a father helps produce a child. This is not a common proverb and not in common use. Most English speakers will not have heard this proverb, though they will most likely agree up to a point. Having said that, a lot of people still believe that wishing for something can make it happen, who knows?
