Meaning / example :-
Sometimes facing adversity, obstacles to overcome, can be beneficial to our lives. Mishaps and misfortunes can make us stronger and more courageous when we overcome them. It also instils sympathy towards others who are facing similar misfortunes to the ones we’ve previously overcome. The proverb speaks for itself, that using adversity to your own advantage is sweet, i.e. good.
