Proverb of the day :- The higher up, the greater the fall

Meaning / example :-
When they fall, i.e. come to ruin, great men and women fall further than lowlier men and women. It can also be seen that people of higher status feel the fall greater than people of lesser status because they have further to fall and more to lose. Obviously the higher up you climb, literally, the bigger the drop to the ground. This proverb is fairly common, the sort of proverb newspapers and celebrity magazines revel in and frequently paraphrase in their headlines.
